Candle Care Essentials

Follow these four fundamental steps for the perfect candle experience every time.

01

The First Burn

Allow your candle to burn until the entire top surface melts to liquid. This creates "memory" and prevents tunnelling. For our 300g candles, this typically takes 2-3 hours.

02

Wick Maintenance

Before each lighting, trim your wick to approximately 5mm. This prevents smoking, mushrooming, and soot. Use sharp scissors or a wick trimmer for a clean cut.

03

Burn Duration

Never burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time. Extended burning can cause the wick to shift and the glass to overheat. Let it cool completely before relighting.

04

Safe Placement

Place your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from drafts, children, and pets. Keep the wax pool free of debris such as wick trimmings or matches.

Scent Recommendations by Space

Living Room

Choose warm, inviting scents that create a welcoming atmosphere. Sandalwood Serenity offers sophistication, while lighter florals work well in warmer months. Consider your room size when selecting intensity.

Bedroom

Prioritise calming, soothing fragrances. Lavender Dreams is specifically formulated for restful evenings. Light your candle an hour before bed and extinguish before sleeping.

Bathroom

Fresh, clean scents work beautifully in smaller spaces. Eucalyptus Breeze provides a spa-like experience during baths. Ensure proper ventilation and use a smaller candle for compact bathrooms.

Common Candle Issues

Even the best candles can encounter issues. Here's how to identify and resolve common problems.

Tunnelling

If wax builds up on the sides, your first burn wasn't long enough. Try wrapping aluminium foil around the top to reflect heat and melt the walls.

Weak Scent Throw

Ensure your room isn't too large for the candle size. Try closing doors and windows temporarily. Our scents strengthen after 2 weeks of curing.

Smoking Flame

This usually indicates an untrimmed wick or drafty location. Extinguish, trim the wick, and move to a draft-free spot before relighting.

Wet Spots on Glass

These are natural in soy candles and don't affect performance. They occur when wax pulls from the glass during cooling and are purely cosmetic.
